The Gonads-N-Strife Bicycle Club
was established in the summer of 2000. Having recently moved from near UNR to the flatlands of Sparks, I soon rediscovered my love of cycling, and purchased an eighties cruiser from a neighbor. I went about pimpin' her out; whitewalls, flatter chrome fenders, bullhorns and a bell.

Soon I discovered Dynos and I got a Black Flame-Well. I was infected, and started collecting fat tire bikes; Schwinns, Evans, Colsons, J.C. Higgins, Hawthornes, Hiawathas, and whatever else came along.

A funny thing happened; people would see us on our bikes and I'd encourage then to take a spin, and of course they'd want one of there own. Soon I would organize group rides down the river, and the west and south shores of tahoe. We met other bicycle cruiser clubs, largely due to Dan Turner at Bicycle Authority in Carson City. Dan turned us on to other bicycle events and the network began.

We formed a member base and put our first fundraiser together, and I went to work looking for sponsors. I was blessed to meet the wonderful folks at New Belgium Brewing Co. and of course Dan Turner at Bicycle Authority. These two are always ready and available to contribute to our causes, and we thank them for their never ending generosity. To date we have had three Jams for Joy at Christmas and two successful bicycle Poker Runs. We're looking forward to our 3nd Annual Gonads-N-Strife Poker Run, set for May 18, 2008.

Last year's Jam for Joy proceeds went to The Committee to Aid Abused Women, and the Poker Runs benefit The Make-A-Wish Foundation. We like contributing 100% of our proceeds to these two charities, as all the money raised stays in our community. We would like to thank all our sponsors who contribute to our philanthropic endeavors, without you we could not fulfil our doctrine to change the world one bike at a time.
